Applying for a Job with the City of Airway Heights

Application Process  Applications may be picked up at and returned to the Airway Heights City Hall, 1208 S. Lundstrom Street, Airway Heights, WA  99001.  Applicants who submit resumes also must submit the applicable City of Airway Heights employment application form and any additional materials as stated on the specific job announcement. Please check to make sure that the position has not closed and identify the title of the position for which you wish to apply.  Allow sufficient time for mailing as applications must be postmarked as received by 5:00 p.m. on the closing date.

Qualifications  Before you submit your application, be sure that you meet the minimum qualifications and any specific position requirements stated in the job announcement, and that you list all experience that shows you to be qualified.  Stated minimums refer to full-time work; part-time work will be converted to full-time equivalents. Complete all sections and questions on all required supplemental forms.  Incomplete applications will not be considered.  Type or write your application materials legibly.  We accept photocopied applications when signatures and dates are original.  Remember to sign your application and supplemental materials.  Keep a copy of your application materials, as originals will not be returned.

Public Panel – Open Forum @ City Council Meeting:  Monday, October 21st @ 5:30 pm*

*This panel will be open to the public to allow an opportunity for finalists to meet residents and answer pertinent questions. This will be a moderated event, televised and recorded for the Open Public Records Act. Please be prepared to answer a variety of questions presented.

Final Selection:  Week of October 21st

Anticipated Start Date for Employment:  December 2nd, 2019*

*This date is flexible and allows for a month of training with the current Chief of Police prior to retirement

The City of Airway Heights is seeking an Assistant Clerk-Treasurer

This role is the primary support to the Finance Director / Clerk – Treasurer and assumes the management position in the absence of the Clerk – Treasurer. It is the number two position in providing most financial and overarching administrative functions for the city, including certain human resources functions. Financial responsibilities include but are not limited to revenue and expenditure accounting, cash reporting, budgets and forecasts, tax reporting, investments and annual reports. Administratively, this role will prepare council packets and transcribe minutes of council meetings, oversee fulfillment of records retention requests, and preserve and safeguard city documents.

Principal Planner

The City of Airway Heights is seeking a dynamic leader interested in making a meaningful impact as the Principal Planner in our rapidly-growing community.  There are a number of unique opportunities and challenges associated with this position.  The City is one of the fastest growing communities in the Greater Spokane region.  Commercial and industrial development within the West Plains area (including a new Amazon fulfillment center, current and planned developments within the Kalispel and Spokane Tribal developments, and a major expansion to the Exotic Metals manufacturing center) as well as an increase in active duty personnel at Fairchild Air Force Base has helped to drive a surge in new residential development within the City.  Current planning efforts include a major Comprehensive Plan update, development of a Downtown Plan, an Industrial Subarea Plan and a City Arts Plan.
