Applying for a Job with the City of Airway Heights  

Applications are accepted for advertised openings only.  Jobs are normally advertised in one or more of the following manners: the Cheney Free Press, The Spokesman Review, or the City of Airway Heights Cable Channel 5.

Application Process  Applications may be picked up at and returned to the Airway Heights City Hall, 1208 S. Lundstrom Street, Airway Heights, WA  99001.  Applicants who submit resumes also must submit the applicable City of Airway Heights employment application form and any additional materials as stated on the specific job announcement. Please check to make sure that the position has not closed and identify the title of the position for which you wish to apply.  Allow sufficient time for mailing as applications must be postmarked as received by 5:00 p.m. on the closing date.

Qualifications  Before you submit your application, be sure that you meet the minimum qualifications and any specific position requirements stated in the job announcement, and that you list all experience that shows you to be qualified.  Stated minimums refer to full-time work; part-time work will be converted to full-time equivalents. Complete all sections and questions on all required supplemental forms.  Incomplete applications will not be considered.  Type or write your application materials legibly.  We accept photocopied applications when signatures and dates are original.  Remember to sign your application and supplemental materials.  Keep a copy of your application materials, as originals will not be returned.

Public Works Water Department Lead

The City is accepting applications for the position of Public Works Water Department Lead. The Lead is responsible for the employees that perform tasks which are essentially similar to the responsibilities of the incumbent. In this respect, the Lead is a working lead and may perform all the tasks of a maintenance worker when needed. Incumbents make job assignments, ensure the availability of equipment, resolve on-site problems, and work with Departmental administrators to develop project cost estimates and scheduling. This position performs work independently and makes decisions necessary to plan, organize and complete work assignments.

Public Works Sanitary/Sewer Collection Department Lead

The City is accepting applications for the position of Public Works Sanitary/Sewer Collection Department Lead. The Lead is responsible for the employees that perform tasks which are essentially similar to the responsibilities of the incumbent. In this respect, the Lead is a working lead and may perform all the tasks of a maintenance worker when needed. Public Works Maintenance Worker

The City is accepting applications for the position of Public Works Maintenance Worker. Positions in this classification work under the supervision of the Operations Manager and perform general duties that are necessary to maintain, repair, operate, and install basic infrastructure in public works and parks systems. Incumbents must have a general working knowledge of a wide variety of maintenance tasks and are called upon to complete small construction projects as well as routine maintenance programs. Positions in this classification use and maintain a variety of city owned equipment including back hoes, dump trucks, truck and trailer combinations, mowers and snow removal equipment. Work is conducted mostly out of doors and incumbents are frequently exposed to inclement weather conditions, traffic, hazardous chemicals and potentially dangerous equipment. Positions are subject to call-out for snow removal or emergency response. Maintenance Workers may be required at times to carry a two-way pager and may be assigned to 24-hour stand-by.

Court Clerk

The City is accepting applications for the position of Court Clerk. The Court Clerk is responsible for a variety of routine and complex administrative duties in support of the Municipal Court. The regular work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. Starting salary is $18/hr depending on experience. Qualified individuals are encouraged to submit a cover letter, resume and completed Airway Heights Employment Application by Monday, November 20, 2017, by 5:00 p.m.
