6th Avenue Extension – Craig Road to Russell Street Advertisement for Bid- Airway Heights, WA
The City of Airway Heights has completed the design and currently in the bidding phase for the 6th Avenue Extension – Craig Rd to Russell St project. The construction project bid range is estimated at $4,000,000 – $5,000,000. The project is being funded with a partnership between Spokane Transit Authority (STA), CHAS, Washington State Freight Mobility Strategic Investment Board (FMSIB), Transportation Improvement Board (TIB), and the City of Airway Heights. This Contract provides for 6th Avenue extension, traffic calming improvements to 6th avenue, and multimodal improvements consisting of a shared-use path and sidewalk in-fill, along with ADA ramps, pedestrian crossings, and future Spokane Transit Authority (STA) bus stops.

Construction will begin in October with completion in the Summer of 2025. The traveling public can anticipate 6th Avenue to remain open to local traffic with shoulder closures, alternating one-lane with two-way traffic control, single block closures, and intermittent impacts to cross streets.
